until death do us part

I was caught up with a cousin’s death last Saturday. He fell off his bike and suffered severe brain injury, and passed away at 22 years old. My aunt has suffered a son’s death 9 years ago. Now one more gone – it was too much to bear but she is very resilient. I dedicate this to my beloved aunt and family. May God console them through their grief.

To have,
to love,
and to part,
with a child
is the greatest sorrow,
unknown.
Time tries to heal
the heart of a mother
bound in time and space
soaked in dry tears
always looking up,
wishing
somewhere in heaven
he is with God
looking down
smiling,
in reassurance.

Alfatihah to “Adik” Iskandar. You’re always in our heart.
